This turmeric lemonade is a wholesome and refreshing drink, made from a simple infusion of water with curcumin root and fresh lemon, and a touch of maple syrup to sweeten the deal. Minimal ingredients, and ah-mazing on a hot summer day, or as a fun upgrade to that lemon water morning kickstarter routine, if that’s your thing :)
It’s been a very hot summer here (hooray!). I’m all for the heat, and strangely enough the warmer it is, the more I want to be outside running. And running in the hot sun has led me to experiment with new and tasty ways to stay hydrated.
This lemonade looks so irresistibly bright and radiant in a frosted chilled glass — it’s like a mood lift on top of that runner’s high (who knew that was possible?! :) ).
I love this infused water version of the drink, because of its simplicity and how “hands off” it is (just put stuff in a jar, cover with water, and you’ll have a fancy (and easy!) turmeric lemonade the next day). No special gadgets required. If you have a knife, a cutting board, and a jar, you’re all set.

A wholesome and refreshing drink, made from an infusion of water with curcumin root, fresh lemon, and a hint of maple syrup.
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1” fresh turmeric root (curcumin), rough chopped
- 2 tsp – 1 tbsp dark maple syrup (or more or less, to taste)
- Place the lemon and turmeric root into a 24oz mason jar*. Cover with water. Refrigerate overnight.
- When ready to drink, add maple syrup to taste, stir and enjoy!
*I used a 16 oz Atlas Mazon Jar (pictured), which when filled all the way to the top actually fits 24 oz. I fill mine way up to the top for this recipe. However, you can use a larger or smaller jar to suit your needs, and simply increase or decrease the number of ingredients to the jar size.
