Discover the details that make a truly beautiful raw cake

I don't know about you, but I can spend some serious time admiring the stunning raw cake designs I see on Instagram :) One thing I've noticed - all the best raw cake artists share a common trait... being super picky about details.

Like with layers - have you ever tried to make a multi-layer cake, only to have one layer bleed into another, mucking up your colors? It happens to everyone but definitely doesn't look pro ;)

And then toppings are another thing, simple on the one hand, but it's easy to fall into the trap of using the same toppings you've tried in the past. Variety is a huge part of raw cake decoration.

It's weird, you wouldn't think that such small (and not even difficult) details would separate your average raw cake from a truly gorgeous one, but that's pretty much all it is.

Anyone can toss some ingredients into a food processor and make a raw cake base, but you need a little extra discernment to make cakes that are visually impressive and irresistible...

That's why I created this quickstart guide

These are all the tips and tricks I use in my kitchen on a daily basis (yes, I love raw cakes that much!)

A lot of people find making raw cakes intimidating. And if you don't know where to start (like when you're looking at someone else's finished cake design) it can seem almost impossible. Especially when you've got a few raw cake flops and wasted ingredients under your belt.

Really though it's not that hard to design cakes that look as amazing as they taste. It just requires a bit of know-how.

I put this guide together so you'll have the confidence to experiment with all sorts of cake decorating techniques. And to inspire you to be a little adventurous, so that you can practice and become more natural as you go along.

After reading this guide you'll know how to:

  • Pair crust and filling ingredients so that they compliment each other naturally.
  • Layer your fillings so you get perfect layers (straight or swirly depending on your preference).
  • Use berries properly - whether fresh, freeze dried, or frozen.
  • Choose flowers to compliment your cake flavor and adorn your design.

And you'll also have:

  • An understanding of why style and careful execution are key to beautiful cake decoration.
  • The ability to impress others visually and use the design to hint at your cake’s flavors.
  • Skills to avert and fix accidental cake swirling mishaps.
  • The inspiration to get adventurous so that your cake decorating skills get better and better!

It can be overwhelming looking at other people's raw cakes and trying to figure out how they crafted them so perfectly. This guide will cut out the guess work.

Whether you're going for a delicate, understated design, or something more wispy and whimsicalyou'll finally know how to replicate the same level of professionalism you see from the best raw cake designers out there.

How does this compare to the Unconventional Treats book?

This raw cake decorating guide focuses on professional finishing touches for the raw cakes you craft. I get so many questions about how to make raw cakes that are really beautiful, so I documented the various tips and tricks I use and put it together in this guide. If you're really serious about going in depth with all kinds of alternative desserts (working with unconventional ingredients, crafting other desserts besides raw cakes, having 150+ recipe examples, etc.), Unconventional Treats will be your go-to guide for that. Both products are complimentary, but cover slightly different topics: this guide focuses on decorating only, whereas the Unconventional Treats book and videos cover a wider range of dessert craft topics.

Is this a physical guide?

This quick start decorating guide is a downloadable PDF that you can put on your phone, tablet or read on your computer. It is not a physical product.

What if I don't like the decorating guide once I buy it?
